Veronica Dragalin, the head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, refused to respond to Marina Tauber's lawyers, who asked to be heard today. The meeting was to take place at 12:00. The defence representatives intended to present the new head of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office with information about more abuses and illegalities committed by her subordinates, as well as to clarify certain issues related to the detention and investigation of Marina Tauber.
„We requested a meeting with the Head Prosecutor of the Anticorruption Prosecutor's Office, Veronica Dragalin, but our request was not granted. Moreover, yesterday we expressed our views on some illegalities in the pre-trial detention of Marina Tauber. Today, Mrs. Dragalin spoke about transparency in the criminal process. We asked for the court hearings in Marina Tauber's case to be public, but both the prosecution and the court representatives rejected our request. No meeting has been arranged with the head of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office”, said Marina Tauber's lawyers.
The lawyers publicly announced their intention to meet with Veronica Dragalin yesterday at a press conference. This was after they presented more evidence confirming that the investigation into Marina Tauber's case is being conducted with serious legal irregularities. Among the abuses reported is the fact that anti-corruption prosecutors report daily to the Minister of Justice, Sergiu Litvinenco, details of the progress of the investigation, confirming the political underpinnings of the case. In addition, according to the defence, representatives of the PAS government have promised favours and promotions to investigators under Veronica Dragalin as a reward for their abuses. It is also serious that in the more than 30 days she has been incarcerated in Penitentiary No. 13, Marina Tauber has never been heard by the prosecutors handling the case.
