The PAS government and its pocket justice are in agony. After more than 2,000 people protested in front of the General Prosecutor's Office yesterday and demanded the immediate resignation of the interim General Prosecutor, Dumitru Robu, today, in the early hours of the morning, they descended in force on party activists. During the so-called raids, the Sandu regime's tools burst into the territorial offices and homes of the activists and confiscated their personal belongings, under the pretext that they were evidence in the criminal case, fabricated at the orders of PAS.
We consider these actions to be deeply abusive and illegal, and the real reason why the government resorts to such extreme measures is the chronic fear of protests, which are fully justified. It is obvious that, today, the "SHOR" Party is the only real opposition force that shows a firm critical attitude towards the irresponsible attitude of the current government, and in these conditions, PAS is trying to silence us and eliminate us from the political scene.
It should be noted that during our protest actions, MIA representatives acted brutally towards several activists who intended to protest non-stop in front of the General Prosecutor's Office. They abusively confiscated more than 150 tents that were to be set up in front of the institution and escorted the protesters to the police, although no legal provision prohibits peaceful demonstrations and the right to protest is enshrined in law and in all international norms to which the Republic of Moldova is a party.
We strongly condemn all these abusive actions and call on all responsible actors to immediately stop harassing the opposition. We are witnessing a brutal violation of fundamental human rights and freedoms, an attack on the principles of the rule of law and multipartyism, as well as usurpation of state power, which is the most serious crime established by the Criminal Code. We hope that these actions are closely monitored by our foreign partners and we urge the whole society to be vigilant and not to allow the Republic of Moldova to turn into a dictatorial state.
