The price of public transport in Orhei municipality remained unchanged, even though it increased in most of the localities in the country due to unprecedented fuel prices. Moreover, at the initiative of the leader of the "SHOR" Party, Ilan Shor, public transport is free of charge for all city residents during peak hours.
Orhei dwellers do not pay for public transport in the morning, when they go to work, kindergarten or school, and in the evening, when they return home, more precisely between 06:00-09:00 and 17:00-19:00. At other hours, a public transport journey costs three lei for adults and 1.5 lei for children. For each passenger, Orhei City Hall compensates two lei. Local residents are grateful for support.
„We are grateful to all those who take care of us in these difficult times, when we have to save on everything to pay the maintenance bills. We save our transport money and take care of other problems. We don't know what we would have done if bus travel had become more expensive”, said a resident of Orhei municipality.
There are about 40 new, modern, comfortable buses in Orhei's bus fleet, most of which are air-conditioned. The fleet was renewed at the initiative of Ilan Shor in 2019, which was one of the promises made during the election campaign for mayor of Orhei. The chairman of the "SHOR" Party says that the prices for public transport in Orhei will remain unchanged, because people need to be supported in difficult times.
„While public transport has become more expensive in almost every town in the country, the price of public transport in Orhei has remained unchanged. Moreover, during peak hours, transport is free for all residents of Orhei municipality, as established in 2019, at my initiative and that of the team of the party I have the honor to lead. In times of crisis, when prices are rising like yeast, the authorities must be close to the people and their needs, not leave them to fend for themselves and condemn them to poverty, as the current government is doing. Caring for the people is one of the principles we live by and respect. We will continue to give people what they deserve - a dignified, comfortable and secure life”, assured Ilan Shor.
In this context, it should be noted that the local councilors of the Chisinau Municipal Council (CMC) from the "SHOR" Party, Serghei Burgudji and Valerii Klimenko, voted against the bill that allowed the increase, as of July 1, of the fares for public transport in Chisinau.
